What are the difficulties in manufacturing injection molding?

The plastic injection molding process must first be the injection mold. If it is a simple injection molding part, the mold is relatively easy to manufacture, such as injection Mold for Pulley. If the injection molding parts with complex structure are encountered, the injection molding manufacturers also have certain difficulties in mold manufacturing.

Difficulty 1: The cavity and core of injection molded parts are three-dimensional.

The upper and lower shapes of plastic parts are directly formed by the cavity and core. These complex three-dimensional surfaces are difficult to machine, especially for blind hole cavity surfaces. If the traditional processing method is adopted, it requires not only high technical level of workers, more auxiliary tools, more tools, but also a long processing cycle.

Difficulty 2: the precision and surface quality of injection molded parts are required to be high, and the service life is long. For example, Plastic shell, Auto Lamp Mold, POM injection molded standalone parts.

At present, the dimensional accuracy of general plastic parts is required to be it6-7, and the surface roughness is Ra0.2-0.1 μ m. The dimensional accuracy of corresponding injection molded parts is required to be it5-6, and the surface roughness is Ra0.1 μ M and below.

The precision injection mold adopts a rigid mold base, which increases the thickness of the mold, and adds support columns or cone positioning elements to prevent the mold from being compressed and deformed. Sometimes the internal pressure can reach 100MPa.

Difficulty 3: The injection molding process is long and the manufacturing time is short.

For injection molded parts, most of them are complete products matching other parts. In many cases, they have been completed on top of other parts, waiting for the matching of injection molded parts to be launched. Due to the high requirements for the shape or dimensional accuracy of products and the different characteristics of resin materials, the mold needs to be tested and modified repeatedly after the completion of mold manufacturing, which makes the development and delivery time very tight.

Difficulty 4: injection parts and molds are designed and manufactured in different places.

Mold manufacturing is not the ultimate goal, but the final product design is proposed by the user. According to user requirements, mold manufacturers design and manufacture molds, and in most cases, products produced by injection molding are also in other manufacturers. In this way, product design, mold design and manufacturing and product production are carried out in different places.

For plastic products, the first thing injection molding manufacturers need to do is to evaluate the difficulty of mold development. The higher the difficulty, the higher the cost is.
