Precautions for Polishing of Injection Mold

Precautions for Polishing of Injection Mold

Injection mold polishing has two purposes; One is to increase the smoothness of the mold, so that the surface of the products produced by the mold is smooth, beautiful and beautiful. The other is to make the mold easy to demould, so that the plastic will not be stuck to the mold and cannot be detached.

Precautions for injection mold polishing are as follows:

(1) When a new mold cavity starts to be machined, the workpiece surface shall be checked first, and the surface shall be cleaned with kerosene, so that the oilstone surface will not be stuck with dirt and thus lose the cutting function.

(2) The coarse grain shall be grinded in the order of difficult to grind first and easy to grind, especially for some dead corners that are difficult to grind, the deeper bottom shall be grinded first,

(3) Some workpieces may have several pieces assembled together for polishing. First, grind the coarse grain or spark grain of a single workpiece separately, and then grind all workpieces together for smoothing.

(4) For workpieces with large plane or side plane, use an oilstone to grind out the coarse grain and then use a straight steel sheet for light transmission inspection and measurement to check whether there is any unevenness or undercut. If there is any undercut, it will cause difficulty in demoulding or strain of the workpieces.

(5) In order to avoid paying attention to the situation that the die workpiece has developed a buckle or some bonding surfaces need to be protected, the saw blade can be used for pasting or sandpaper can be used for pasting on the edge, so as to obtain ideal protection effect.

(6) Pull the mould plane back and forth, and place the handle of the drag whetstone as flat as possible, not exceeding 25 °; Because the slope is too large, the force is punched from top to bottom, which easily leads to many coarse lines on the workpiece.

(7) If the surface of the workpiece is polished with copper sheet or bamboo sheet pressed with sandpaper, the sandpaper should not be larger than the area of the tool, otherwise it will grind to the place that should not be grinded.

(8) The shape of the grinding tool should be close to the shape of the mold surface, so as to ensure that the workpiece is not deformed by grinding.

For example, plastic electrical appliance shells, plastic food containers, etc. If the above points are well done, the polishing appearance of the injection mold will be very beautiful.
